THE year 2015 is
underway – Christ-
mas has come and
gone although you
wouldn’t notice it in
When the core group
of volunteers leave town
or just run out of steam
usually the Local Council
takes up the baton but not
in Tennant Creek.
There was not a single in-
dication that it was Christ-
mas other than the decora-
tions of private businesses
in the main street nor was
there even a blip to cel-
ebrate the New Year.
Then again the Coun-
cil hierarchy would have
enjoyed a more festive
holiday as they vacated
Tennant Creek on mass
for greener pastures over
Check the efforts of

The construction of
the new pool has been
awarded to an interstate
company that has no prior
experience in pool con-
struction of this size and
was not the lowest tender.
This company is cur-
rently contacting local
contractors to discover
what they can contribute.
The reasoning behind
these important decisions
is beyond comprehension
is it Barkly Regional
Council policy to ignore
Or again do we simply
have people in decision
making roles that have
never run a business and
made a dollar - therefore
have no understanding of
how to achieve value when
spending a dollar.
As predicted the Inner
sanctum at the pyramid
is turning on itself – the
second engineer in 12
months has been sacked
and payed out.
A handy policy amongst
the bureaucrats - this regu-
lar sacking of staff.
It ensures that if you need
to pass the buck there is al-
ways a scapegoat available
and if they are no longer
here to defend themselves
so much the better.

Damn you autocorrect!
IN last week’s article “Radio show teaches
Warumungu language to Barkly children”
(TDT 6/2/15), the Tennant Times was a vic-
tim of autocorrect!
What should have been the radio program “Pinarra
Aku”, was awkwardly changed to “Piranha Aku”.
We assure readers there are no local radio programs
currently on 8CCC about the vicious flesh-eating fish.
If you haven’t heard of the website www.
damnyouautocorrect.com, check it out.
Warning: tissues to wipe tears of laughter may be
HAHA, that’s funny you must be

But if not, then you must be kidding.
How can anyone in their right mind
condone the behaviour of these kids
and justify it with they will be our future
Your leaders maybe, but certainly not
I think that the only leading that they
will be doing is at the line at the dole of-
fice, the pubs at opening hour, or here’s a
hat trick – leading the chain gang at our
local work camp.
I pity my grandchildren’s future.
You might be ‘edumacated’ enough to
use big words (disparaging, meaning
belittle), some of us old school people
can still operate a dictionary to look up
the meaning of your words.
But I am afraid that you have not un-
derstood my remarks correctly, they were
not belittlement just sheer anger from
many years of replacing windscreens,
cleaning off human excrement, cleaning
off food and drink, from my cars.
I have shut my mouth and not gone
public for fear of reprisal for my business
or my person or family.
Perhaps you have not been here long
enough to remember that we once had
Holden, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan deal-
ers here in Tennant Creek.
Guess what? They closed down through
the ongoing damage to their stock of
new and used cars that they could no
longer insure as they had to make too
That’s about 15 jobs and our only new
car dealership gone.
I guess that was okay too as it was only
our future leaders hard at work, getting
our town the way that they obviously
want it to be.
You may want to live in a ghetto but I
To use the words of a great man (Forrest
Gump), these kids and leadership do not
go together like peas and carrots.
FYI: I have been paid a further four
night visits since the straw that broke the
camel’s back, two of which were before
my article was published in the Tennant
& District Times so it is not for reprisal.
These visits have cost me thousands of
dollars which, I have no way of getting
back from the perpetrators, even though I
have CCTV images, as they are untouch-
able, or from insurance or I will end up
like our last car dealer and not be able to
I only hope that they leave me alone and
come spend their energy on damaging

do something about these out-of-control
little bastards – I will vote for you.
Did any of you hear about the American
student in Singapore several years ago?
He did a similar vandalism act on
someone’s car and was given six lashes
across the backside and immediately put
on a plane and sent home.
I bet he stood up most of the way.
Now that’s how to deal with vandals.

leaders, says resident
