ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Due to unforseen circumstances, the AGM has been changed.
The AGM that had been scheduled for 11th February 2015
will now be held at 10:00am on Friday 6th March 2015
at Doubletree by Hilton (formerly the Crowne Plaza), 82 Barrett Drive, Alice Springs.
The business of the AGM will be:
1. To confirm the minutes of the previous AGM.
2. To receive the audited financial reports for the year 2013/2014.
3. To receive reports from the Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer and the
Principal Legal Officer.
4. To appoint an auditor for the 2014/15 financial year.
5. To consider any General business.

Review of Electoral Representation for the Barkly Region
Council is undertaking public consultation to allow interested members of the community
to express their views on the key issues which will determine the future composition
and structure of Council. The key issues include; the number of elected members, title
of elected members, the possible number of wards for the council area and proposed
possible amendments to the existing regional boundaries.
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23 of the Local Government Act 2008, the Barkly
Regional Council is undertaking a review to assess the adequacy of the constitutional
arrangements presently in place and, in particular, whether they provide the most
effective possible representation for the council area. The review must be completed
by 31 March 2015 in order to have any proposed amendments put into effect before the
2017 Local Government elections.
Notice is hereby given that Council has prepared a discussion paper in regards to the
composition and structure of Council, and the division of the council area into wards.
The paper is available at the Council offices, 41 Peko Road, Tennant Creek, or download
from Council’s website www.barkly.nt.gov.au
Interested persons are invited to make a written submission to: The Chief Executive
Officer, PO Box 821, Tennant Creek, NT 0861.
Any submissions should specifically address the following issues:
The composition of Council (i.e . the number of elected members (excluding the
President) required to adequately and fairly represent the electors of the region and
perform the roles and responsibilities of Council.
The title of the elected members (excluding the President).
Whether the region should be divided up into more/less wards, or alternatively have
a no ward structure (i.e. the elected members represent the whole of the region and
are elected at ‘council-wide’ elections).
In relation to the ward divisions, what is the favoured future ward structure (in terms
of configuration, number of wards and level of representation in each of the

Proposed possible future amendments to the existing ward boundaries of the region.
