Trip of lifetime for Tennant lads
FOUR young footballers from Tennant
Creek had a hugely successful tour of
Ireland, defeating their Irish competi-
tors in every game.
Liam Holt-Fitz, Matthew Green, Mattaniah
Bain and Kyrell Barton joined forces with
the Wanderers Australia under the direction
of coach, Jason Saddington from the Sydney
Swans to score wins against Irish teams Mo-
naleen, Ballinacourty, Lucan Sarsfields and
Emmets Gaelic Athletic Association.
The team travelled throughout Ireland before
Christmas, meeting, playing and training with
local teams and battling inclement weather that
was the complete extreme of the searing heat
their families in Tennant Creek were coping
They also toured professional clubs and got
to travel through France as well.
Members of the Tennant Creek Clontarf Acad-
emy based at the High School, the footballers
proved to be standouts against the Irish teams.
Their success heralds a good year for the
talented four who already have a busy agenda.
After returning from Ireland, Matthew and
Mattaniah got to play in the NTFL under-18s
while Liam represented Nightcliff.
Liam is now touring South Africa as co-
captain of the under-15s All Australians.
