THE Amigos have taken out the Mixed
Touch Rugby Competition following
an exciting grand final match against
Mixed Lollies on Monday night.
There was a great turnout of spectators too
and they didn’t go away disappointed.
The match turned out to be a classic see-saw
battle between the Amigos (Andrew Baker,
Daniel Fraser, Lee-shay Gillet, Tommy Gil-
let, Tyler Horwood , Keara Baker, Bronson
Plummer and Lockie Monkton) and Mixed
Lollies (Yves Makita, Tai Cadraii, Enisa
Zendeli, Michael Jones, Jarod Clarke and
Amigos started the game strong with early
tries from Keara Baker and Andrew Baker
putting them in the 3-0 lead. Mixed Lollies
at the same time showed their strong strategic
team work, finishing the first half with three
points to Amigos’ four.
During the second half the Amigos again
started strong with Lee–Shay scoring an early
try that put them even further in front.
But Mixed Lollies continued to display fan-
tastic team work and were still in the game,
once Yves crossed over the line they were only
two points behind with three minutes to go.
This was anybody’s game. A dashing run
by the Mixed Lollies team on the wing in the
dying minutes wasn’t enough as the ball went
to ground close to the try line.
The turnover resulted in one last try to the
Amigo team and they ended up winning 9-6.
Presentations were held at the conclusion
of the game, in which Best On Field went to

Special thanks to all team captains and
volunteers who helped out with umpiring
throughout the competition.
Seven teams registered in the 2016 Any-
inginyi Mixed Touch Rugby competition
when it all started back in February. Three
games were played every Monday night as
teams battled it out for the top four spots with
good participation from players and spectators
proving to be a highlight of the competition.
TC Raiders finished first on the ladder fol-
lowed by Amigos, Strikers, Mixed Lollies,
BOBs, Triple Zero Zizzles and The Rabbles.
In the finals on Monday 11 April, TC Raiders
(1st) vs Mixed Lollies (4th) and Amigos (2nd)
vs Strikers (3rd).
Mixed Lollies were led by Yves Makita and
Tai with big help from Enisa Zendeli and
talented young players Keenan Wilson, Jarod
Clarke, and Andrew Green. With their strong
bonding and strategic display, Mixed Lollies
displayed a fantastic 5 - 2 win over the Rugby
enthusiasts, the fast runners.
The unlucky TC Raiders, led by Dylan
Mitchell and Matty Blankenspoor, just
couldn’t quite play at the standard they had
been playing all competition and the Mixed
Lollies booked the first seat in the Grand
The second final was between Amigos (2nd)
and Strikers (3rd). Led by Kym Bracken and
Darryl Lowe, Strikers were unfortunately
playing with one female short.
The scores bounced between the two during
the first half with 5-4 Amigos way. The game
continued neck to neck but Amigos, led by
Andrew Baker and Daniel Fraser, were too
strong at the end as they took the second seat
in the grand final in their 10-8 win.
The Anyinginyi Social Sports Calendar con-
tinues to roll on, with upcoming sports such
as women’s volleyball, women’s softball and
mixed indoor soccer about to start in May.

coming out and making
the annual event a great
day as without your
