members to send in expressions of interest
(EoI) to take part in a working committee for
Australia Day 2017. Duties include being part of
a panel to select winners for the Barkly Region
Australia Day Awards.

COMMUNITY GRANTS ROUND OPEN
Barkly Regional Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EoI)
for the first round of the 2016/17 Community Grants Program.
The Grants Program seeks to support community-based projects in the areas of arts and
culture, sport and recreation, community safety and community development. Groups or
individuals can apply for amounts of up to $3000 per project.
The grant application program opens on 1 November 2016 and closes on 30
Guidelines and application forms can be obtained from Council Head Office, 41 Peko
Road, Tennant Creek or from the website http://barkly.nt.gov.au/news-events/news/

The Northern Territory Government
has placed an Interim Development
Control Order (IDCO) on new
applications for dual occupancy
in Zone SD (Single Dwelling
Residential) (dual occupancy).
This means that dual occupancy
applications will not be accepted
until the IDCO is lifted or expires.
Concurrent to the IDCO, a
review incorporating community
consultation will be undertaken on
the dual occupancy provisions of
the NT Planning Scheme.
Currently, dual occupancy allows,
with consent, two dwellings to
be built on Zone SD residential
allotments that are greater than
1000 square metres.
The review will commence next
month and will involve extensive
community and industry
Information about the opportunity
to attend independent consultations
will be advertised shortly.

Forms must be returned by COB Friday, 4 November 2016.
Awards will be presented at the Flag Raising Ceremony at Battery Hill on Australia Day 2017.
