young leaders as positive community role
models demonstrate generational change.
Northern Territory Disability Service
Awards highlight the skills, hard work and
commitment of the inspirational people who
provide services in the disability sector.
Ashley Pead’s award for excellence in the
2016 Disability Services Awards recognises
a move from Tasmania to Tennant Creek
two years ago into a support worker role
with Lifestyle Solutions supporting people
with physical and intellectual disabilities
throughout the Barkly region.
In a radio interview Ashley told how her
boss, Mitchell Bates poached her from a
local cafe focussed on growing support for
the disability sector with complex needs yet
great job opportunities.

and care across diverse settings within the
Territory Families Minister the Hon Dale
Wakefield recently announced the NT’s
newest Youth Ambassadors for National
Youth Week 2017.
Three of five ambassadors from regional
areas represent Gove, Tennant Creek and
Alice Springs including Natasha May for
the Barkly region and Tennant Creek.

of National Youth Week with local Natasha
May on the national stage.
Minister Wakefield congratulated the new
ambassadors recognising and celebrating
their positive contributions to the commu-
nity as leaders acting as agents of change by
sharing ideas and raising important issues
for young Territorians.
Natasha May, current member of the
Chief Minister’s Round Table of Young
Territorians, studying a Bachelor of Arts
(Psychology) and working with Catholic
Care Tennant Creek, presents as an emerg-
ing role model for young people.
Natasha commands well-established net-
works throughout Tennant Creek and Barkly
including program leader for the 2016
Desert Harmony Festival Youth Culture
Camp, founding member of Tennant Creek’s
Youth Leadership Group and community
volunteer for the Tennant Creek 2015-16
