MORE WAYS TO GET INVOLVED IN WORLD KITCHEN
Do you have a garden that can contribute food to the ‘World Kitchen’? It can be as
little as just contributing basil or you might have a variety of foods to contribute. Or do
you make sauces, jams, spices, dips that can be used in the ‘World Kitchen’?
Anything at all! It doesn’t have to be a lot, every bit counts.
Do you have a story to tell? We are looking for people of all ages to be brave and tell
a story at one of the Festival events, around the theme of ‘Dreams and Dreaming’.
It might be a funny or strange dream you had, it might explaining ‘what is your dream
for the future’, it might be story from a piece of art about country or a poem or a

Barkly Regional Arts are seeking applications from individuals or groups who would like
to contribute to the Desert Harmony Festival. Specifically we are looking to fund
community workshops, kids club activities, interactive sculptures, exhibitions, art
awards that engage the community, a movie night. But we are open to all your ideas!
Funds of up to $1000.00 will be awarded for each initiative. To apply, head to:

opportunity and to contribute towards creating a positive profile of the region?
The Desert Harmony Festival seeks financial and in-kind sponsors who wish to invest in
a community event that annually showcases and promotes the region positively and
provides a platform for the community to be heard and developed.

INTRODUCING THE FESTIVAL ORGANISER
It’s been 7 years in the making but Barkly Regional Arts have been able to set aside
funds for a 6 month, full time Festival Organiser to assist Artistic Director, Kathy Burns.
The Desert Harmony Festival has had huge growth over the past few years and is well
past needing more hands to tackle the massive workload of running a community
Leah Sanderson takes on this newly created position, getting the role over a
number of great applicants. Leah is a social justice advocate, theatre and events
facilitator, documentary maker, and communications professional, with 10 years ex-
perience in a variety of non-profit and arts organisations. For the past three years Leah
has led the Shakespeare Prison Project for the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble.
“What impressed me most about Leah, was her experience in navigating her way
through times when things have fallen apart at the drop of a hat, and having to
come up with solutions quickly”, says AD, Kathy Burns. Leah hits the ground in March.
