Contravention of Fair Work Act by Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge Inc
We refer to the audit conducted by the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) into
allegations that Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge Inc. contravened the Fair Work Act 2009 and
the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 by failing to
pay correct minimum rates of pay, penalty rates and loadings.
Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge Inc. has formally admitted to FWO that these contraventions
occurred and has entered into an Enforceable Undertaking with the FWO (available at www.
fairwork.gov.au) committing to a number of measures to remedy the contraventions, including
by rectifying the underpayments and conducting workplace training.
Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge Inc. expresses its sincere regret and apologises for the
conduct which resulted in the contraventions. Furthermore, Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge
Inc. gives a commitment that such conduct will not occur again and that it will comply with all
requirements of the Commonwealth workplace relations laws in the future.

DEPARTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE, PLANNING AND LOGISTICS
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST DEVELOPMENT
Expressions of interest are invited from persons interested in
appointment as a (community) Member of the Development Consent
Authority. The appointments will commence on 12 April 2018 and will
be for a two year period.
There are seven Divisions of the Authority - Darwin, Palmerston,
Litchfield, Batchelor, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs which
determine development applications within their respective Division
area in accordance with the Planning Act and NT Planning Scheme.
Each division has four members, two of whom are appointed directly by
the Minister to represent the general community.
In considering the expression of interest for the positions, the Minister
will take into account the applicant’s place of residence and
expertise or special interest in town planning or related
fields such as land administration, engineering, surveying,
architectural design, land valuation;
oral and written communication skills;
ability to make sound and balanced judgements;
knowledge of related subjects;
commitment to continuing growth and development of the
Territory consistent with good planning principles, and
capacity to attend meetings of the Authority.

Council is inviting residents to come up with a
logo for the Dob in a Dumper campaign.
There will be a High School Prize ($250),
Primary School Prize ($250) and Community
Prize ($250) on the condition that the sole
winning logo is used by Council for all publicity.
The winning logo entry will be announced and
cash prizes presented at the Ordinary Council
Meeting, Council Chambers, 41 Peko Road, on
Thursday, 22 March.
So get busy as the deadline for
entries is 4pm on Thursday, 15 March.
