CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The Government has introduced into Parliament the Liquor Amendment (Point of Sale
Intervention-POSI) Bill 2018
The Government recently changed the Parliamentary Standing Orders to avoid sending
this Bill to a Scrutiny Committee as normally would happen.
The Bill, amongst other matters, would allow Police Auxiliaries to be stationed at
bottle shops at a cost of $11.3m per year. In the Riley Report on Alcohol, Justice Riley
recommended that appropriate training be provided to Licensing Inspectors to enable
them to undertake the POSI role.
Gerry Wood, Independent Member for Nelson, is therefore asking for anyone who has a
view on this Bill to write to the Independent Scrutiny Committee.
The Bill can be found at https://legislation.nt.gov.au/en/LegislationPortal/Bills/~/link.
