Barkly kids set for Youth Week and April holiday fun
1 min read

BARKLY youth are set to celebrate NT Youth Week, which this year boasts a plethora of events in Tennant Creek.

Coordinated with support from a dedicated group of ambassadors, NT Youth Week - which runs from 6-17 April - provides opportunities for young people to connect with their communities. It offers a forum to discuss key issues, share ideas, and showcase their talent, energy, and spirit. Participating in these events can help you build new skills, make new friends, and contribute to your community.

Embracing the theme, ‘Aspire to Inspire: Celebrating Territory Spirit’, NT Youth Week celebrates the youthful energy and creativity of young Territorians up to 25 years and calls all Territorians to contribute to a brighter future. We invite you to join us in this celebration and make a difference in your community.

Aligning with the April school holidays, this year’s calendar of events caters to all ages and interests, from music and band workshops to movie nights, handball competitions, discos, drone flying, 3D printing, soccer with the John Moriarity Foundation, and Easter Egg basket making.

There is even the opportunity to get your creative flow on and design a new logo for the brand new Tennant Creek Youth Centre!

Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality Ngaree Ah Kit said the Territory Labor Government is proud to support the delivery of the school holiday events, NT Youth Week and All Youth Conferences.

“Young people contribute so much to our communities. These initiatives offer invaluable opportunities to develop, grow and inspire the next generation of young people,” she said.

“With around one-third of our Territory population under 24, it’s important to equip them with the necessary tools and support to pursue their ambitions and make positive contributions to their community.”
