Golden Boy’s lucky nugget discovery
1 min read

AN eight-year-old Tennant Creek boy is still reeling from his lucky discovery while fossicking at Mad Micks Mine at Warrego with his father recently.

Duqarn Foster came across a two-ounce gold nugget while on the treasure hunt with dad Jimmy Hooker.

He says the nugget is worth a cool $5,000, but he’s even luckier that he can run faster than his father, who joked with him and ran off with the prize.

“I chased him down and then he gave it to me,” laughed Duqarn.

Duqarn, whose mum has nicknamed him the Golden Boy, plans on finding more gold, but not before he hosts a little celebration party with his school friends.

He even promised to buy his dad a carton – but Jimmy will need to wait another decade before his son can legally purchase the gift.

“I felt really lucky and I think I will find more gold so we are going to head out there again,” said Duqarn.
