Teen spits on and kicks police after terrorising BP staff

AS local residents and businesses continue to suffer financial losses from continuing youth crime issues in Tennant Creek, police also face the problems of dealing with the young offenders with one teenager spitting on and kicking officers after being apprehended.

Just after 1.30am on Saturday, police say a group of youth had armed themselves with rocks and sticks and threatened staff at the local BP Complex with violence before damaging parked cars and glass panels at the service station.

The young vandals fled the area.

Detectives from the Tennant Creek Investigations Division identified and arrested two 10-year-old boys involved in the incident, both of whom will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

However, a 13-year-old boy, once apprehended starting kicking and spitting at officers.

He was transported to the Tennant Creek Watch House, where he continued to be aggressive towards police and allegedly spat in an officer’s face.

The teen will also be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Police investigations into identifying the other youths involved continue.
