Tender for new Arlparra subdivision released

THE Labor Government’s new Minister for Remote Housing and Town Camps, Chansey Paech, has announced a new residential subdivision within the Utopia Homelands will pave the way for the construction of 10 homes.

The tender for the construction of roads, stormwater drainage, allotment grading and services at Arlparra was released by the NT Government this week.

The works will be delivered through the NT Government’s Homelands Program, which funds service providers to help homelands residents with municipal and essential services and housing maintenance.

“The Territory Labor Government made a commitment to take a new approach to improving living conditions on homelands,” said Mr Paech (pictured).

“Land servicing is critical for delivering new homes and this subdivision will support the construction of more homes at Arlparra.

“Works will also support employment and training opportunities for locals towards creating skilled workers in civil construction.”

Arlparra is 381 kilometres south east of Tennant Creek and makes up just one of 13 homelands in Utopia.

The tender closes 8 October and is expected to be awarded on 29 October.

Works are expected to be completed by 15 April next year.
