Youth Centre set to be complete by end of year
1 min read

THE Tennant Creek Youth Centre has had its first slab laid and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Barkly Regional Council Director of Infrastructure Santosh Niraula (pictured) said it is just one of many major projects in the Barkly region underway or completed this year.

“The pandemic didn’t get in the way of our plans in the grand scheme of things, in face this is one of our busiest years in recent history,” he said.

“These projects are facilitated and carried out but local contractors and suppliers, and local businesses benefit greatly through additional workers and running costs, meaning the Barkly hasn’t slowed down.”

The roadworks phase one and two are now complete, covering almost half of the Council’s major roads in Tennant Creek, and further afield, the Change Rooms in Elliott are almost finished, along with the women’s art centre in Wutunugurrra  and the Basketball Court in Alpurrurulam –  all part of the Barkly Regional Deal.

The Youth Centre is also part of the Barkly Regional Deal, and funded by the Federal Government’s Building Better Region Funds.
