1 min read

AFTER having been delayed by a week due to the bushfires, Saturday saw teams and supporters from around the Barkly headed to Purkiss Reserve to watch the Grand Final matches and find out who will win the premierships.

In the Women’s final, the Spitfire Ladies proved too strong for the Elliott Hawks, but it was a close contest, the final score being Sporties 4-3-27 to Elliott’s 2-7-19 and Sporties Daeaicee Hansen took out Best on Ground.

The Men’s final followed, with Ali Curung Kangaroos against Elliott Hawks with Elliott proving to be the stronger on the day and coming out premiers by 20-6-126 to Ali Curung’s 10-7-67. Elliott player Kurt Raymond was named Best on Ground with an amazing 7 goals.

All the teams played their best and there was plenty of cheering going on as we see the end of another successful BAFL season.
