Tennant racers take to Alice Springs speedway track
1 min read

SPEEDWAY may have finished in Tennant Creek but that hasn’t stopped the local speedway competitors  racing.

A group of eager racers travelled to Alice Springs and Katherine over the weekend.

Brian Daniels and Brodie Reid ventured to Katherine, supporting Katherine’s “Pink Night” breast cancer fundraiser race meet.

Brian and Brodie competed strong throughout the heats but it was the third heat that would get them.  Brodies car decided to catch fire, thankfully the fire crew were quick to respond and put it out.

Brian got up to first but due to a spin out he was collected by another racer which put him out of the heat as well.

After some quick fixes and help in the pits Brian was able to get back out in the feature and ended up placing fourth.

Brother duo Jamie and Michale Jones went south to support Arunga Park Speedway on their opening night.  With a difficult track surface to start with Jamie decided kiss the wall and pulled infield on the first heat.

On the second heat he found his groove and scored first place.

With the quickest lap times for both heats, Jamie knew he still had his work cut out for him as The Foley siblings were on his tail.

In the final race it was Jessica Foley who stepped up and took out the win with Jamie coming in second.

Michael raced the Greening dad/son duo in the Street stocks.

The Greening’s led the way in the first heat and Michael came third.

Alas, Shane had mechanical issues and couldn’t compete in the final heats and feature.

Michael took out the feature followed by Axel.

All had a ball supporting other clubs and if you’re in Alice on the 22 October, come along and support the Tennant Creek drivers at the Arunga Park Speedway Memorial Night.
