2 min read

LOCAL speedway racer Jamie Jones showcased his skills against eight other Top Stars Junior Sedans  in the Centralian title at Arunga Park Speedway last weekend, delivering a commendable performance.

Joining him from Tennant Creek in the Street Stocks was Jayden Giezedanner, who also made his mark in the competition.

This competition was also an opportunity for both lads to test their cars before representing at the State Titles in South Australia soon.

Jamie had some clutch issues, but he was able to work with them and managed a heat win in the second heat.

In the third heat Jamie was holding second but on the sixth lap him and another car came together.  He managed to get back on the track and finish sixth.

This put Jamie starting out third in the feature race.

Jayden’s car was running great in the first heat but a spark plug lead fell off, pulling him infield.

In the second heat Jayden came out with a vengeance and won the heat.  Unfortunately, Jayden had an incident with another car in the second heat and left him with a bent strut.  He managed a win in the second heat.

In the third heat, Jamie was holding second, but on the sixth lap, he and another car came together.

Jamie managed to get back on the track and finish sixth. However, Jayden was out for the rest of the meeting, as there was too much damage to continue for the night.

Jamie went out in the feature and tried to get a good start. Alas, an issue with the field starting prevented Jamie from getting the start he wanted. Jamie held third all the way and claimed third in the Centralian Title.

Jamie is now gearing up for the South Australian Titles and would like to express his gratitude to those who made it possible for him to compete this weekend. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Councillor Kevin Harlan, I&D Contractor, Tennant District Lions Club, MLA Steven Edgington, Remote, Sassafras Yamba, Little Rippers Lifestyles, his parents, Greasy, and Jayden for their unwavering support.

Lastly, Keepnup Racing wishes Jake Koivumaki, Jack Yates, Kane Lloyd and Justin Brumfield all the best at the National Street Stock Titles this weekend.

With Jack recently coming second in Victoria title and Jake first in NSW title it will be a race to watch - let’s go NT!
