VICTORIA NEEDS TO FOLLOW THE TERRITORY’S LEAD BY LETTING VICTIMS SPEAK OUT!

A former Tennantite who grew up in the town has bravely spoken about the horrific child sex abuse she suffered at the hands of a family member.

Hailey Vipond has released a video on Facebook - reliving and recounting the harrowing experience and the silent suffering she endured over the years.

She recounts the feelings of guilt, disgust, angst and self-loathing and despair at the hands of her perpetrator.

Hailey is aghast the Victorian government is gagging victims under new legislation passed in February.

It means victims who want to share their stories cannot speak publicly without obtaining permission from the courts.

The NT Government on the other hand passed the #LetHerSpeak Bill in the NT Legislative Assembly back in June.

The Bill gives survivors the right to speak out under their own names about their experiences at the culmination of criminal court proceedings.

Victoria take note – Australia’s child abuse victims deserve the right to speak out!

The Tennant Times and the entire town of Tennant Creek stand by Hailey and applaud her bravery!

Let Hailey’s message be a warning to all you other filthy, creepy bastards who can’t keep your hands off our children – you will be outed and publicly villified.

Please note this video contains a graphic retelling of Hailey’s ordeal and the ensuing emotions including suicidal thoughts.
