IT was another beautiful day out at Arlparra for the annual Southern Softball Cup between Ampilatwatja and Arlparra.

The girls started the day with a skills session and revision of softball rules and the softball diamond.

The 1st game saw Ampilatwatja have an easy win with a 16 runs to 5 runs after 4 innings which saw some big hits from some of the students.

Then, a fun game where the girls were put into two teams of mixed schools, had them laughing and having a ball whilst making new friends.

The last game was Arlparra all the way with 11 runs to 1 run. A couple of home run hits helped Arlparra get the big runs on the board. A count back of the scores saw Ampilatwatja named champions by 1 run.

The girls showed off their giant trophy to the  community of Ampilatwatja when they arrived back home by driving around with “We are the Champions” playing loudly whilst proudly holding the cup up high for all to see.
