1 min read

EX-tropical cyclone Megan is bringing in heavy rainfall, strong winds, and floods in various location leading to road closures and evacuations in the Borroloola and McArthur River regions.

Tennant Creek experienced approximately 160mm of rainfall till 9 am yesterday, causing problems for some areas, including the HIPPY offices. The offices are now closed temporarily due to flooding.

The rainfall is expected to continue for several days, leading to possible restrictions or closures of roads in and out of the town.

The authorities will impose restrictions as necessary. It’s essential to stay up-to-date with the latest road reports before embarking on any travel.

Remember the simple rule, “If it’s flooded, forget it,” which can save lives.

The increased rainfall can potentially lead to more mosquito breeding, so it’s vital to take precautions to prevent mosquito bites and avoid getting sick.
