COUNCIL RESOLUTION ON ROUNDABOUTS
Council resolved at its July Ordinary Meeting to:
(a) Remove the roundabout from the intersection of Stuart Street and Ambrose Street.
This will allow free-flowing traffic through to the show grounds, racetrack, saddle horse
and rodeo grounds.
(b) Remove the roundabout from the intersection of Pinnacles Road and Ambrose
Street. This would allow tourists to use the car park at the rear of the Food Barn.
(c) Remove the roundabout from the intersection of Casey Street and Staunton Street.
The many changes made at this location have created more confusion than the original
placement of the roundabout.
(d) Reduce the size of the Peko Road /Ambrose Street roundabout to meet Australian
(e) That the roundabout at Ambrose Street and Garnett Street be retained with
modifications to size, pedestrian access and signage for better child safety and traffic
The program for the removal of the roundabouts will be:
Monday 28 July – Casey Street/ Staunton Street
Tuesday 29 July – Stuart Street / Ambrose Street
Wednesday 30 July – Pinnacles Road/Ambrose Street
The removal will be undertaken using temporary road closures with access for local
residents maintained. The Barkly Regional Council requests the co-operation of road
users during the work and compliance with all traffic management signs. Council
apologies for any inconvenience to road users and local residents during this period.

Apprenticeship Employment Program
Katherine Region – Commencing August 2014
GTNT are currently recruiting to an exciting new
program being conducted in partnership with
the Department of Business and Charles Darwin
University in the Katherine Region.
The key elements of this program include:
15 positions available with applicants being employed as Engineering
Training delivered over 21 weeks on site at CDU Katherine Rural
Campus (live in arrangement)
Training and work experience in automotive and fabrication
qualifications equivalent to the first year of an apprenticeship.
Support throughout the program to gain on-going employment as an
automotive or fabrication apprentice.
Aptitude testing and interviews of shortlisted applicants will be
conducted in Katherine throughout July.
