Two Cup Race Day a welcome return
1 min read

AFTER having missed out on the races last year due to COVID-19, Tennant Creek certainly made up for it last Saturday with the Tennant Turf Club Two Cup Race Day.

The ladies dusted off their long unused gladrags, hats and high heels and there were more suits about than have been seen in a good long while as everyone dressed up to give race day a sense of occasion that has been missing for too long.

Even the kids were catered for with Miss Kirsty having gone above and beyond to create a kids corner to ensure that there was no-one suffering boredom during the afternoon.

The adults however, made the most of the opportunity to get dressed up and have an afternoon of fun and socialise, even if there were an awful lot of losing betting slips in the bin at the end of the day.

As always, the committee managed to create an event for everyone to enjoy and deserve congratulations on a job well done

Results for the two cups were:

Denis Staunton Memorial Club: 1st Alvin Purple ridden by Wayne Kerford, 2nd Grand Symphony ridden by Jason Hoopert and 3rd Regal Eagle ridden by Paul Denton.

Remote Concrete NT Tennant Creek Cup: 1st Lord Smedley ridden by Stan Tsaikos, 2nd Allspice ridden by Alice Lindsay and 3rd Peressini ridden by Paul Denton.
