Resident says local law enforcement should be ashamed of themselves
1 min read

I WOULD like to display my concern in a public forum.

A few weeks ago, Tennant Creek Police at Wauchope accosted a young local woman for suspected drug smuggling.

The police found NO evidence of drugs in their search but proceeded to keep the vehicle in their care to drive it back to Tennant Creek.

The police officer driving the young woman’s car then ended up crashing into hay bales, writing the car off.

What I also find amusing is when this road incident was reported in the online newspapers there was no mention of the police officer being involved and what was written was “police were on the scene”.

I just think this is a major waste of police resources.

Our community is in disarray with some of the youth of the town burning down our only supermarket, constantly vandalising and smashing windows with what it looks like from the outside with no repercussions.

Yet we choose to pull resources to drive out to Wauchope (not sure how long they waited for her on our taxpayers’ time) to search a young woman who has had no drug-related criminal history and then write off her car?

I think this is a total disgrace and our local law enforcement should be ashamed of themselves.

Please go out and fight the REAL crimes that we see happening before our eyes every day!
